This is a new copperplate made from a high-resolution, retouched scan taken from a vintage metal tailpiece. Tailpieces were often used to end a column of text or a colophon. The column was usually the same width with maybe the last couple of lines being shorter to start to mimic the angle of the tailpiece.

We thought the central open area would be the perfect place to put the number for numbered editions.
